Onomatopoeia

Onomatopoeia are words that are used to represent sounds. For example the words , pop, whoosh, buzz, woof, bang, drip drip. Japanese people love onomatopoeia

Japanese people especially like to use onomatopoeia to describe how they are feeling.

Additional Activity

Students can choose 1x onomatopoeia vocab and they will then create a poster for this. Examples are attached on the next page. Children could write the word using Katakana(ドカーン、ドキドキ) or Roman alphabet( IRA IRA, BOO BOO) .
