Week 5&6

Lesson 1

Learning Intention: 

We are learning to identify numbers in Japanese. 

We are learning to share our names  in Japanese.

We are learning to share our likes/dislikes in Japanese.


Success Criteria:

 I will be successful when .. 

I can count up to 100 in Japanese.

I can share my name using simple Japanese.

I can share my likes/dislikes using suki or suji janai desu.


Materials - Number flashcards. suki/suki janai posters. 

Greetings in Japanese, mark roll (10 min)

Onamae wa nan desu ka - revise onamae wa nan desu ka? ____ desu. + gestures – practice with a partner (10 min)

Number clip - Sensei will pause this and see who can guess the next number. (10 min)

Language Focus Whole group - ______ ga suki desu ka / ga suki/ ga suki janai desu. (5 min)

Noughts and Crosses Game - suki/suki janai language (20 min)




Lesson 2

Learning Intention: 

We are learning to share our names  in Japanese.

We are learing to talk about our likes and dislikes in Japanese.


Success Criteria:

 I will be successful when .. 

I can share my name using simple Japanese.

I can use suki/ suki janai to share my likes and dislikes in Japanese.


Materials: 1x learning wall per student, ga suki/ga suki janai flashcards. Moving around the room printout 1x per child.

Greetings in Japanese, mark roll, rules. Give out Japanese books - doozo - arigatou (5 min)
Onamae wa: Onamae wa nan desu ka ____desu.  + gestures (5 min)

Revise 'suki/suki janai' as a whole group. (10 min) Ask students as a whole group, have students ask questions independently.

Calligraphy pens - writing Japanese numbers (15 min)

Sensei Game - hai/iie game.  

Lesson 3

Learning Intention: 

We are learning to make comparisons between school life in Australia and Japan. 


Success Criteria: I will be successful when .. 

 I can identify a similarity and difference between school life in Japan and Australia.


Greetings in Japanese, Mark roll etc. (10 min)

Onamae wa nan desu ka? ____ desu. + gestures (10 min)

Find a friend - partner game (15 min) Students share about a friend.  Peta Sensei wa _____ ga suki desu/ga suki janai desu.

A Day in a Japanese school power-point (20 min)
