Lesson Preparation: Display number flashcards and 'Ogenki desu ka' flashcard from previous weeks. Please print 'Wa ni natte kudasai' flashcard from below and display.
Additional activity: Please watch the clip provided, children can then decorate their own kimono. You will need to print 1x kimono PDF per child.
Victorian Curriculum: Exchange greetings and introduce and share information about self with the teacher and peers using simple language and gestures. Participate in guided group activities such as games, songs and simple tasks, using movement, gestures and pictures to support understanding and to convey meaning.
Sensei will revise/introduce 'Ogenki desu ka? (How are you?) - 'Ogenki desu yo! (I'm good).
For this activity you will need 3 objects that can be passed around the group.

Sensei will call out a number in Japanese and children must make a group of that number as quickly as they can.

Additional Activity (30 minutes)
Suki's favorite possession is her blue cotton kimono. A gift from her obachan, it holds special memories of her grandmother's visit last summer. And Suki is going to wear it on her first day back to school --- no matter what anyone says.
When it's Suki's turn to share with her classmates what she did during the summer, she tells them about the street festival she attended with her obachan and the circle dance that they took part in. In fact, she gets so carried away reminiscing that she's soon humming the music and dancing away, much to the delight of her entire class!
