Lesson Preparation: Please have your number flashcards and 'Watashi wa ____ desu' posters on display.
Additional activity: Please print 1 set of 'Watashi wa ___ desu. Worksheet' per child. They will need writing/colouring pencils, scissors and glue.

Use formulaic expressions and gestures in exchanging greetings and farewells.

When listening to simple repetitive spoken texts, they identify key words such as names and demonstrate comprehension by actions.

Magic Fingers Activity.
Sensei will call out a number in Japanese and the children must hold up that many fingers.
Students make rows of two-five, standing on the floor. The teacher will hold up a flashcard or call out the words and the fastest hands up of the front person students to answer will be the winner. That student may keep their place in the front row however the others must move to the back in each of their rows while every other student move forward. Teachers from each school will need to identify the fastest students.
